Picking up precisely where its predecessor left off, Halloween II follows the same characters are unhappy with the knife-wielding madman who left him for dead in the first Halloween. It seems the inhuman Michael Myers is still very much alive and more revenge as he stalks the deserted corridors of the hospital where his sister (Jamie Lee Curtis), set on hold. As closer and closer to its goal of terror, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) discovers the mystery behind the crazed psychopath chilling action is wild. Written by horror masters John Carpenter (The Thing) and Debra Hill (Escape from New York), Halloween II is a dark chilling ride the scariest night of the year. “You can not kill the bogeyman,” says John Carpenter’s Halloween and Michael Myers brings to prove it again in this sequel to pretty, but creepy. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode but spends most of his time hiding in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasence runs like a mad panic as the doctor desperate to hunt down Myers before he kills again. Carpenter writes and produces with partner Debra Hill, and together they replace the mystery and uncertainty of the original, with a body count exponentially greater and some strange stories about the druids and pagan ceremonies, and family ties, and Michael and Laurie family. For the first time director Rick Rosenthal (Bad Boys) steps of the film at a fast trot and directs it with a clean style, crisp, with the murders of the darkness to show them in all its ugly details. – Sean Axmaker
